Lost and Found

We have all been lost at some point in our lives. We stray away from things that cause us pain and hurt. We stray away because of things we have done that brought us shame and guilt. We stray away from people who we think may hurt us. We all have strayed away from something and someone.

Sometimes we think that straying away from our problems will make them go away, but what we fail to realize is that they will still be there when we decide to return. We want to go and do our own thing just as the son did in Luke 15:24. He wanted his inheritance before time. He wanted to go and explore other places in the world, but what he did not know was that he was making a big mistake.

We don't always think about the consequences of our actions until it is too late. We then want to return to the comforts of home when things get tough and we don't know what to do. We know that the doors of our parent's homes are always open for us.

When he realized that he didn't have any friends after his money was gone, and he didn't have anywhere to go, he had to find a job and a place to live working for someone feeding their pigs. He almost ate the pig's slop because he was hungry, it was then that he came to his senses and decided to go back home even if he had to work as his father’s servant. So, he got up and went back home. His father recognized it was his son walking down the road towards his home. He ran to him kissed him, and hugged him, put a ring on his finger, shoes on his feet, and a clean robe on his back. They partied that day because his son was once dead, but now alive, was lost, and now found.

His father didn't turn his back on him because of what he had done, but he rejoiced that his son was home safe again. This is how God sees us. This is how God welcomes us back when we have strayed away and we return to Him. Heaven rejoices! They have a heavenly party! Isn't it wonderful to know we have a Father in Heaven who loves us so much and no matter where we go, and no matter what we do in this life we can always return home to Him.❤️
