Old Testament Examples

Here are some Old Testament examples of prayer:



*Psalm 119*



1. Structure: 22 eight-line stanzas, each beginning with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

2. Themes: Love for God's law, prayer for guidance, and protection from persecution.

3. Key verses:

- "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (v. 105)

- "I will meditate on your precepts and consider your ways." (v. 15)



*Daniel 6:10*



1. Context: Daniel defies King Darius's ban on praying to anyone but the king.

2. Daniel's prayer:

- "He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done previously." (Dan 6:10)

3. Themes: Faithfulness, obedience, and trust in God's sovereignty.
