The Book of Luke: The Crucifixion and Resurrection

THE CRUCIFIXION AND RESURRECTION: LUKE 23:1-24:43

Luke 23:1-24:43 describes the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus:

*Crucifixion (Luke 23:1-49)*

1 The whole assembly rose up and led Jesus to Pilate.

2 They began to accuse him, saying, "We have found this man subverting our nation."

33 When they reached the place called the Skull, they crucified him.

34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

35 The people stood watching.

36 The soldiers also mocked him.

44 Darkness came over the whole land.

45 The temple curtain was torn.

46 Jesus called out.

47 The centurion praised God.

*Resurrection (Luke 24:1-43)*

1 On the first day of the week, the women took spices to the tomb.

2 They found the stone rolled away.

3 The angels said, "He is risen!"

4 The women remembered Jesus' words.

5 The disciples did not believe.

6 Peter ran to the tomb.

7 Jesus appeared to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus.

13 That same day Jesus appeared to the Eleven.

36 Jesus stood among them.

37 They were frightened.

38 Jesus showed them his hands and feet.

39 "Peace be with you."

40 He ate with them.

41 They still did not believe.

42 They gave him broiled fish.

43 He ate with them.
