What Should You Do When Anxiety Attacks? Day One

Updated: Jul 31, 2023

According to Proverbs 12:25, this is what the Bible says about anxiety: Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad. (Holy Bible pg.445.)

Every day we experience something that causes us to have anxiety. It could be job loss, debt, the death of a loved one, or even sickness. We never know what's going to happen to cause us to feel anxiety. When it does happen, we can think of something good to lift the heaviness of anxiety from our hearts, but it's not always easy to do. Sometimes things weigh on us for years because we just will not let whatever it is go. When that happens depression sets in. It hurts. Depression is a disease just like anxiety. It is different for everyone. There have been times when depression has caused fatalities in the lives of people who struggle with it severely. There are medications on the market for it, but do they always work? Sometimes they may for some, and not so much for others. There are alternatives to fighting depression and anxiety.

  1. Exercise

  2. Meditate

  3. Reading a good book

  4. Yoga

Seeing a Therapist:

Seeing a therapist can be good to talk about your problems that are bothering you, and to talk about things that happened to you in the past that caused you to become depressed and weighed down by anxiety. I am not saying that it will work for everyone, but they are there if you need their help. Prayer is another thing that helps to get things off of your chest. I know that there are those who do not believe, but it does work. I know it helped me when I was fighting depresssion and anxiety. Sometimes it will still try to bother me, but I pray about whatever is bothering me and leave it alone. I know it is easier said than done, but try it sometime.

In the scripture above, it also reads that a good word makes it glad. It is your heart. Good words being spoken to someone whose feeling down will lift their spirits; make them smile because it takes away some of the hurt they're feeling. Our words should be used to bring joy to someone, not pain and hurt. Our words should be kind filled with love from the heart. We never know what someone is going through. It is always good to treat others how we want to be treated. We never know who we will meet who will need a word of encouragement. Sometimes depression is caused by what someone says to us, and makes us feel when we are being spoken down to. People don't realize the things we say can really be hurtful. This is why we should watch what we say and how we say it. We never want to use our words to hurt someone...we always want to use our words to speak life into a broken and contrite spirit.

Depression and anxiety right along with stress are silent killers. This is why we can't always take things to heart because it festers. when that happens, it causes grudges to be held, and hate developes in the heart and soul of the person, or people who has been hurt. When that happens sometimes people gives up on life. They feel like life isn't worth living because of all the hurt they have been through, or going through; and you know what that leads to; it leads to unnecessary fatalities. Words hurt, and words can heal, they can bring joy and sorrow that may never be forgotten. So, with that being said I hope this article will help others to see that depression, anxiety, and stress is nothing to play with. Your mental health is important. It is something that we all must work on daily. Take a mental health day just to focus on yourself. Show yourself some self-love. Take care of yourself because there's only one you. To your mental health.
