Self-Love, Self-Care, and Showing Gratitude

What do you think about when you think about self-love, self-care, and showing gratitude? Well, lets see what those words mean so we can understand them a little better.


Self-Love- Self-Love, defined as "love of self" or "regard for one's own happiness or advantage", has been conceptualized both as a basic human necessity and as a moral flaw, akin to vanity and selfishness, synonymous with amour-propre, conceitedness, egotism, narcissism, et al. (About Self-Love).


Self-Love-Philosophical and psychological concept aimed at taking care of one's own wellbeing. (Wikipedia).


So, there's nothing wrong with self-love although some may see it as wrong in the case of being selfish. Everyone wants to take care of themselves. Who doesn't want to take care of themselves? We have to take care of ourselves because it is a part of our overall wellbeing. We want to feel good about ourselves. If we do not feel good about ourselves, who will? Who will take care of us if we don't take care of ourselves. If we stop taking care of ourselves, and stop showing ourselves self-love what kind of outlook would we have on ourselves? What kind of outlook would we have on life? We cannot worry about what others say when it comes to taking care of ourselves. We should always love ourselves and take care of ourselves in order to live full healthy lives.

I want to talk about Self-Care. What do you think about self-care? Have you ever thought about what self-care means? Lets look and see what self-care means.

Self-care-it is the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health. The practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress: expressing oneself is an essential form of self-care: self-care methods such as meditation. There are many ways we can care for ourselves. We can care for ourselves by exercising, walking, meditating, reading something uplifting to keep our mood happy. We can listen to stress free music to help us relax. We can take bubble baths that will help us to relax before going to bed. We can play a fun game that we like. We can get our hair and nails done, men can get a hair cut, or whatever they choose to do that is positive that they consider self-care. Hanging out with friends and enjoying yourself. The list goes on and on. Self-care is just as important as self-love. You have to do what's right for yourself because there is only one you. We all have to take care of ourselves. We can't just let ourselves go down. We have to make sure we are alright. How can we take care of others if we do not take care of ourselves? We all have children and grandchildren who loves us so, therefore we have to take care of ourselves so we can enjoy them, and our friends.

Gratitude. Do we ever think about showing ourselves a little bit of gratitude, or writing down what we are grateful for. There are so many gratitude apps to choose from in the play store on your mobile device. I use them everyday. Using them helps me to stay focused on what I am grateful for. We have to show ourselves gratitude, and not just ourselves, but others as well. Think about when someone may have helped you, how did it make you feel? Were you grateful for the help you received? Did you tell them that you were grateful to them for their help? Well, if you did, that was showing gratitude to that person.


What is gratitude? gratitude is a conscious, positive emotion one can express when feeling thankful for something whether tangible or intangible. From the time we are little, we are asked to thank others when they give us a gift or extend a nice gesture. We learn to thank automatically and as a social rule. (Google Search)

Gratitude is basically being thankful, and grateful. Be thankful for who you are. Look at yourself in the mirror and thank yourself for being who you are because there is only one you. Your unique self.
